has disabled the option to update the latest version 5 of its products
from a local folder. Here’s a turnaround that will still enable using
the offline updater. Setting the update server for product versions 5- First,
locate the folder that holds the definitions files. Folder is called
"Updfiles” and can be found at various locations depending on the
installed product and operating system.
- Example 1 – Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\Updfiles
- Example 2 – Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\All Users\ESET\ESET Smart Security\Updfiles
Now open ESET main window, click Setup in left pane.- In
right pane, under Computer section, click Enabled button next to
Real-time file system protection and temporarily disable protection for
10 minutes. Ignore the warning.
- Now click Enter advanced setup at the bottom of right pane.
- Once in advanced mode, expand the Update button in left pane and click on the second Update button.
- In right pane, click Clear button next to Clear Update cache.
- Run the updater and select folder Updfiles as target. You must restart your computer for the update to be effective !!!
