NEVER ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE AN INSTALLED ESET PRODUCT !!!
Want to install the latest version of ESET NOD32 / ESET Smart Security ?
If you try to install a new version over an existing one you'll get
'funny' messages stating that the installation can not continue as some
ESET files are in use ... really ?
Read on, you will avoid serious problems.
ESET has published an uninstallation guide on September 10, 2010. These instructions will not thoroughly remove the application.
Here is THE WORKING PROCEDURE (MANUAL UNINSTALL).
1. To manually uninstall your ESET security product, first download the
file at the bottom of this post - 0.5 MB, free and fast download from
private server. The archive includes:
* Full uninstallation instructions
* ESET uninstaller software
* A (safe) batch file that will help you run ESET uninstaller under Windows 7/2008 R2/2008
2. Delete possibly left over files / registry entries (see uninstallation instructions)
3. Reboot your machine
4. Install the latest version of ESET NOD32 or ESET Smart Security.
WARNING : You might have lost your wireless internet connection
once you've installed the latest version ! In such case, just delete the
connection from the network control panel and reboot your computer !
